Course intro and interview with Patti Euler and Tami Macala

Patti Shares her many tips and tricks on creating your very own Main Street in Mixed Media

Do you have drawers, bins, and shelves filled with beautiful papers, paints, stencils, stamps, found objects, and embellishments, but sometimes struggle with what to actually DO with all of it?

Maybe you’ve been saving those treasures for just the right project.

This might be that project.

Welcome to Mixed Media Main Street with Patti Euler, a course packed with inspiration, creative play, and more than 15 mixed media techniques you can use not only to create your Main Street, but in projects for years to come.

And here’s the best part: you don’t have to use all 15+ techniques in one project!

Think of this course as your own mixed media toolbox. Patti gives you an incredible collection of techniques to choose from. Use three or four on one house, try something completely different on the next, or come back months from now and pull out a technique for an entirely different piece of art.

That is the real gem of this course.

Starting with simple wooden house shapes, Patti takes you through her creative process of transforming them with layers of paint, paper, texture, pattern, words, numbers, found objects, and embellishments.

Along the way, you’ll discover what happens when you stop worrying about using everything at once and start choosing the techniques and materials that work for the piece you are creating.

Your Main Street might be bright and whimsical, vintage and weathered, funky and eclectic, or filled with colors and treasures that simply make you happy.

Patti gives you the techniques and inspiration, then encourages you to trust your creative instincts and make it completely your own.

And one of the best parts?

You probably already own many of the materials you need.

Those scraps of favorite paper you couldn’t throw away, old book pages, buttons, charms, bits of metal, stamps, beads, tiny found objects, and other treasures can finally come out of their drawers and become part of something new.

In this course, you will learn:

  • Preparing and working with wooden house shapes
  • Creating layers with paint, paper, stencils, stamps, and mixed media materials
  • Using extra-heavy molding paste for texture and dimension
  • Combining colors, patterns, and textures while maintaining balance
  • Creating doors, windows, rooftops, and architectural details that give each house personality
  • Incorporating words, numbers, imagery, and graphic elements
  • Transforming embellishments, found objects, and collected treasures into creative design elements
  • Adding dimensional details that bring your artwork to life
  • Making sure exposed wood is not visible behind your finished houses
  • Arranging multiple elements to create balance and flow
  • Securely attaching dimensional elements to your finished background
  • Dry brush painting techniques to create the sky and ground
  • Looking at the materials already in your studio with fresh eyes
  • Building a personal toolbox of mixed media techniques you can return to again and again
  • Taking the techniques beyond Main Street and incorporating them into future mixed media projects

By the end of the course, you’ll have much more than your own Mixed Media Main Street. You’ll have 15+ creative techniques at your fingertips, ready whenever inspiration strikes.

You might use one technique in an art journal, another on a canvas, several in an assemblage, or pull out a favorite months from now when you’re wondering, What can I do with this?

That’s what makes this course so valuable. The project is the beginning. The techniques are what you get to keep using.

And with Patti Euler, the Queen of Mixed Media, sharing more than 15 of her favorite techniques, this is so much more than one project. It’s a creative resource you’ll have at your fingertips for years to come.

Open those drawers. Pull out the papers you’ve been saving. Gather your paints, stencils, found objects, and favorite little treasures.

Your Mixed Media Main Street is waiting to be built, and this is only the beginning of what you can create.
