What does UpCycle mean to you? Do you love to take something old and turn it into something new with a twist or style all your own? Sweaters or other sweater material items you thought might be old or cast offs can now have a whole new creative and wearable art life.
In this course, Elizabeth Haidle will help you translate your designs into wearable art—by needle felting colors and shapes into existing sweaters, hats, robes, and more.
Whether you prefer abstract, repeating patterns or comics characters, you'll learn all the steps necessary to transform your idea into the tactile world of fiber.
If you prefer the analogue route, it’s easy to make templates with cut paper and scissors. Are you digital-savvy or curious? There are tips for using Procreate on the iPAD to explore all the options until you’ve landed your favorite solution.
In this course you will learn:
- Types of material suitable for needle felting
- Elizabeth’s favorite tools and materials
- How to create your design, digitally or analog
- How to felt with needles on various types of clothing
- Upkeep and aftercare for your finished work
Bonus material includes:
- Mistakes to Avoid - avert the pitfalls of the beginner
- Aftercare summary - printable reference sheet
- Instruction video for DIY accordion-fold idea notebook
Once you learn Elizabeth’s methods you will be taking every sweater, hat, scarf and more to create your very own original wearable art.
